Welcome to the Utah Library Association's Academic Section. In September 2005 the co-chairs of this group will survey members to inquire about topics of interest for potential programming at the ULA Annual Conference in May 2006.

Plans are in the works for a spring symposium, which will be co-sponsored by ULA's ACRL Round Table. This event will feature management strategies and implementation ideas from a panel of librarians who have established information commmons facilities in thier libraries. We will hear about technical issues from specialists in information technology, and reference librarians will present approaches to staff training and patron services. Watch for details about this event, tentatively scheduled for March 2006 in Logan, UT at the Utah State University's new Merrill-Cazier Library.
