Technical Services Round Table Meeting
ULA Fall Workshop, Sept. 27, 2002

Following the program sponsored by TSRT (Cataloging Rule Changes) at the Fall Workshop, about six members of the TSRT met briefly to discuss some ideas for annual conference programs. It was suggested that the program on cataloging rule changes given at the Fall workshop be repeated in some form at the annual conference, possibly as a table talk, giving people the opportunity to bring examples. When asked for ideas focusing on Acquisitions or Serials, someone remarked that E-journals were always a hot topic. The roundtable has tentatively booked a person to speak on how to search for out-of-print books and that seemed like a good program idea to those present. Other ideas discussed included a session on digital copyright issues; maybe a panel offering a legal perspective versus a library perspective; also include a general overview, update on copyright. Also, a serials cataloging workshop of some sort to bring people up to date on the enormous changes represented by the new AACR2 Chapter 12. Suggestions for improving the round table included doing a better job of advertising programs in advance and using more informative titles for sessions rather than something cutesy or creative that disguises what the session is about. Powerpoint presentations from the session on Cataloging Rule Changes will be posted on the ULA Technical Services Round Table web page.
