Library Instruction Round Table Minutes, February 7, 2003

Agenda:
- ULA conference programs for May 2003 are in place. Jeanne distributed a list of programs and posters to the group. There are three programs sponsored by LIRT and one co-sponsored by RASRT. Six posters have been submitted under the sponsorship of LIRT.
- LIRT nominated Carol Hansen, Professor and Instruction Services Librarian for the LIRT Distinguished Service Award. The nomination was accepted and will be awarded at the ULA awards dinner, Thursday evening, May 8. We encourage LIRT members to attend and congratulate Carol.
- Jeanne presented a draft copy of a LIRT bookmark. This will be an advertising tool to recruit members to the Round Table. It will be available at the annual conference and for other appropriate events. It will be a printed in color with a limited number of copies made.
- Ann Goebel will prepare a flyer listing LIRT conference presentations, posters and business meeting. This flyer will be put in the conference bags. The programs, etc. will also be listed on the website.
- We had a discussion related to assessment of learning. Ann would like to focus on this topic next year.
- Carol mentioned that ARCL is hosting two assessment programs at the meeting in Charlotte, NC, April 10-13. Carol also mentioned that the Regents are looking at setting information literacy standards for high school students.
- Cheryl mentioned that the public libraries do not have systematic BI, but that instruction is done at point of need and using pathfinders.
Our next in-person meeting will be at the Business Meeting, Thursday, May 8 at 8:30 a.m at the ULA annual conference.
