On July 12, 2002, LIRT members met in-person to establish the goals and objectives for the coming year. In summary, the group committed to

- submitting a slate of candidates for the 2003-2004 year
- upgrading the LIRT website
- producing a bookmark to inform folks about LIRT
- participating the Annual Conference in Salt Lake City
- investigating the LIRT Distinguished Service Award
The finalized goals and objectives were published on the LIRT website. We requested $75 for budget.
Ann Goebel took responsibility for producing a slate of candidates for the 2003-2004 year. This list was submitted to the Nominations Committee in September. Candidates included:

Ann will serve as chair and Jeanne as past-chair for 2003-2004 year.
LIRT participated in the Fall Conference, September 27, by co-sponsoring a program with the Health Round Table. The program, Environment Toxins: Resources That Could Save Your Life, was attended by 12 people and was held in the Emergency Facilities Building (somewhat appropriate to the subject matter), down the street from the Brigham City Library.
LIRT members met again on October 11, 2002 to talk about ULA Annual Conference ideas. It was felt that we should present program relevant to "hot" instruction issues. We also invited LIRT members to submit a poster about an instruction issue or program in their library.
By the February 7, 2003 LIRT meeting, most of the programming for the Annual Conference was finalized and plans were firmed up. Ann agreed to prepare a flying listing LIRT conference presentations, posters, business meeting and LIRT DSA nominee for conference bags.

The LIRT Distinguished Service Award was presented to Carol Hansen, Professor and Instruction Services Librarian at Weber State University, at the Awards Dinner, Thursday, May 8, 2003.
A major accomplishment of this past year was getting a Web presence for LIRT. Meeting minutes, goals and objectives, links to Utah instruction websites, past officers, annual conference programs, the LIRT distinguished service award criteria and annual report were all placed on the website.
Jeanne Le Ber thanked LIRT officers and members for their support and participating this past year. Ann Goebel welcomed incoming LIRT officers and members at large at the Business Meeting on Thursday morning and indicated that she would be setting up a meeting date after her upcoming wedding.
