Review of 2001 Annual Conference and Programs. Likes, dislikes
Erica will be the HEART representative to ULA's Program Board.
Jeanne will be this year's secretary.Training Board Meeting
- PEAK Academy; the location in the lobby adjacent to registration was ideal, giving good visibility. Participation was good (70-80 people stopped by); if we do this again we need to be sure it gets into the official program; PEAK needs to provide a sign (or we do) to advertise the "business."
- Scheduling issues: We need to be sure that HEART sponsored events are not scheduled against one another; that HEART events are not scheduled against a main speaker; it was disappointing that the main speaker conflicted with Round Table programs; maybe ULA should experiment with shorter programs, more time slots and less competition with other scheduled programs.
- Amy and Nancy attended the ULA training session on June 22. During the session, it was indicated that ULA has seen a drop in membership numbers.
- Amy would like to use email to invite HEART members to participate in our meeting and in planning activities. She will ask for an RSVP.
- Conference Report:
- The conference did make money - $10,000
- Attendance was 300-400 (slightly below last years attendance in Ogden)
- Conference planners felt that they needed to do a U.S. mailing and not rely on just email
- There is a need for institutional support to encourage ULA members to attend the conference
- ULA Web page
- Phase 1 - the online membership directory is a work in progress. Dustin Whitney from the Eccles Library is working in the database/Web interface
- The database should be able to provide a list of members by name, institution and email
- Phase 2 - members should be able to query the database to get a list of current members of a particular Round Table or Section
Fall Workshop
The Fall Workshop is scheduled for Friday, October 26 in Moab. Nancy indicated that HEART may want to participate by promoting Consumer Health Information and MEDLINEplus using the Regional Medical Library program Outreach/Education coordinator. Erica indicated that she would be available and interested in working with this person in presenting MEDLINEplus.Winter Activity
