Friday, August 10, 2001 at Trolley Square Pub -- 3:30 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.

Attending:

Agenda:
  1. Approval of July 10th meeting minutes - Amy thanked everyone for coming and asked for any additions or corrections to the July minutes. With one correction (Amy asked that her email address be corrected to amybirks@lib.med.utah.edu) the minutes were approved.

    • Erica provided information related to Annual Conference planning:
      • The online presenters form is being revised and improved
      • The conference center will have more "friendly" furniture in the open areas
      • Food must be handled by the Conference Center (no outside caterers allowed)

    • Referring to the recent UHSLC (Utah Health Sciences Library Consortium) meeting, Erica suggested that HEART investigate working with Sally Patrick and Utah Public Libraries with regard to consumer health information. We should also get an idea of what other Regional Medical Libraries are doing with CHI.

    • Alice suggested that we read Nancy Press' "Nine ways you can really help the public needing health information."

  2. Goals and Objectives - The group spent quite a bit of time revising and updating the goals and objectives. See the web page or MSWord file for this year's goals and objectives.

ACTION: Jeanne will get the revised G&O on the HEART website.

  3. Thank you to Nancy for making changes on Webpage. Any other changes pending? Jeanne indicated that she does not have "write permission" to the ULA website and so was not able to put the minutes on the ULA website.

ACTION: Nancy Lombardo will see that permission is given and Jeanne will update the Web page with minutes. Jeanne will past on an annual report from her term as chair to Nancy so that Nancy has a "model" and she will do an Annual Report for the ULA website and the ULA historian (who keeps record of all meetings and actions).

  4. Fall Conference - Consumer Health Information and MEDLINEplus (RML) - After much discussion, Erica, Amy and Alice indicated their willingness to present MEDLINEplus as the top consumer health information resource at the Fall Conference in Moab on Friday, October 26.

Erica filled in some details about the Fall Conference. It is being held at the Moab Valley Inn and Conference Center. Twenty rooms have been reserved and the conference facilities are available at no charge. Six to eight programs are scheduled, with four breakouts. Some programs will repeat. The facility will not be able to accommodate hands-on classes but there is assurance that an Internet connection will be available for presenters. Planners are expecting 35-50 attendees.

ACTION: Erica, Amy and Alice will work on developing a MEDLINEplus program for the Fall Conference and they will be sure to submit the workshop planning sheet by August 24.
    Jeanne will order MEDLINEplus bookmarks.
