Overview: Discussion of goals for year, budget, committee member recruitment, and meeting schedule.
Agreed:
Our goals for the year include:
- Continue our efforts to revitalize involvement in ULA. We will continue to focus on round tables and expand our efforts to include sections (and possibly committees?). Also as part of this effort, we plan a "mini membership drive" in January that will include a letter to all directors in state detailing benefits of ULA and poster to be displayed in staff rooms.
- Generate good will for libraries among legislators by promoting an "invite your legislator" event at libraries state-wide during Children's Book Week. This will be a joint effort of the public relations and legislative committees. (listserv message to be sent in next week; we'll provide text for invitations and publicity release, results back to legislative committee; may want to provide info at fall conference).
- Provide positive public relations for libraries state-wide by promoting use of puppet psa created by Mary Anne Heider. (especially during National Library Week in April?)
- Enhance library public relations through planning and presentation of program at annual conference.
- Ensure ongoing health of public relations committee by recruiting two to three additional members to serve two and three year terms. (one academic, one public or special, someone with artistic skills?)
