Call for Presentations - YSRT Fall Workshop

Do you have an idea for a session you would be willing to share with your fellow youth services librarians? You are invited to submit a proposal for a session to be presented on September 26, 2014 at our YSRT Fall Workshop. The conference will be held at Summit County Library.

The theme of the Workshop is "Get with Program." We are looking for presentations that deal with any aspect to do with library programming. Some ideas include
*Planning (time management; multiple programs at once, realistic ideas, financial)
*Marketing Programs (flyers, ads, social media, community, press releases)
*Outreach Programs
*Collaborative programs
*Evaluating your programs
*Finding presenters for programs
*Engaging your audience
*Set-up/take-down time (when is too much; affecting other staff; not having enough time!)
*Dealing with program difficulties expected or unexpected (no-show programs; low attendance; weather conditions/library closure; no staff/volunteer support)

Please return the form attached below by: August 1, 2014

2014 Utah Library Association Great Issues Forum

SECURE-PRIVACY

The Utah Library Association’s Intellectual Freedom Committee is excited to announce an upcoming Great Issues Forum about privacy, the library, and the ever-evolving milieu in which we all work and live. This event will be held May 21, 2014 at the Viridian Event Center at the Salt Lake County West Jordan Branch in West Jordan, Utah.

More and more we are asking ourselves how surveillance into our private lives makes us more or less secure. Thomas Panuzio (Homeland Security expert), DeborahCaldwell-Stone (ALA Office of Intellectual Freedom) and the Utah ACLU will present a compelling discussion on our safety, freedom, and rights at this Great Issues Forum.

Lunch will be provided and there is limited seating, so please register as soon as possible.
