Fall 2002 Message from ULA President, Kayla Willey I can’t believe another quarter has gone by! Time seems to travel by so rapidly. The Fall Workshop was held last week in Brigham City and was very well attended. I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Continuing Education Committee, Sue Hill, and Connie Lamb for organizing a great event. Ed Stafford gave an especially good presentation on marketing library services that would be valuable for every library in the state. Thank you to all the presenters and those who helped in any way to contribute to the success of the Fall Workshop. There are several ULA events coming soon. I’m sure the “Books and Breakfast--Everything on a Waffle” program upcoming on October 4th at the Orem Public Library should be fun. The Great Issues Forum is the evening of November 18th and will focus on internet filtering. If you have program ideas for the Annual Conference, now is the time to speak up. Program proposals, poster sessions, and table talk proposals are all due on November 15th. If you have an idea, please make a proposal to the 2003 Conference Committee This past August, 20 ULA members received their MLS degree from Emporia State University. I’d like to commend their efforts in furthering their education. Most of these individuals are already employed in Utah Libraries. Congratulations! It’s also time to begin thinking about colleagues who deserve recognition. ULA sponsors several awards and you as association members can nominate your colleagues. You will soon be seeing official nomination forms online. I encourage you to be thinking of those in the library who have given outstanding service. The Awards Committee Co-Chairs this year are Randy Olsen and Margaret Landesman. I’m sure they would entertain your ideas if someone comes to mind immediately. Thank you for your support and for participating in ULA! Sincerely, Kayla Willey ULA President Back to Top
