Law Librarian
Stoel Rives, LLP

Stoel Rives LLP is seeking a Law Librarian for its SLC Office to provide skilled legal research and customized reference services to attorneys, clients, and staff.  Essential qualifications, skills and abilities include the following:  A Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited school, and/or a J.D.; high level knowledge of the U.S. Legal system, including federal and state court hierarchy, legal terminology, and legal citation systems; and a familiarity with the core legal and reference resources supportive of the practice of law.  Must have ex cellent online research skills with knowledge of Westlaw, Lexis, Loislaw, and HeinOnline; and federal and state court docketing systems such as PACER, Courtlink, and Utah Court Xchange.  Must be familiar with national and local document delivery services such as OCLC and Illiad.  Must be able to perform competitive intelligence research and analysis on individuals, companies, and potential clients utilizing a variety of competitive intelligence resources including:  Accurint, Capital IQ, Hoover's, Standard & Poor's, Livedgar, Dialog, and Dun & Bradstreet, and the ability to analyze and distribute CI information in a logical and clear manner.  Must have knowledge of the US patent system and able to competently search US and foreign patent databases, including native country patent databases, and aggregated databases such as Derwent, PatBase, or Dialog. Candidate must be h ighly dependable, punctual, able to prioritize and accommodate competing research requests in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent client service. Candidate should have a high level of PC proficiency.   Additional duties include serials management, online cataloging, collection development, instruction in library and legal services (possibly across multiple offices), coordination of vendor relations and training, interlibrary loan, budgeting, and physical upkeep of the library including filing and mail processing.

Work Environment:  Normal work hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but may extend beyond these hours from time to time.  Excellent benefit package and salary commensurate with experience. ULA Executive Director
Utah Library Association

The Utah Library Association (www.ula.org) is seeking an Executive Director to spearhead its advocacy efforts and manage its web presence. ULA Executive Director

Mission
The Executive Director of the Utah Library Association (ULA) supports the ULA mission and activities by managing the ULA web presence and membership records, and by collaborating with the Board of Directors, Legislative Committee, and Public Relations Committee to formulate, organize, and execute strategies for the promotion and advocacy of ULA, libraries, and librarians. The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and is subject to an annual review prior to
reappointment.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Serves ex-officio as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
* Serves as a permanent member of the Legislative, Public Relations, and Membership Committees.
* Maintains ULA personal and institutional membership records.
* Develops and manages the ULA website, conference website, and electronic mailing lists.
* Builds and maintains relationships with state and local policymakers, officials, and boards in order to advocate on behalf of ULA, libraries, and librarians.
* Monitors legislative and other initiatives or activities relevant to ULA, and assists in disseminating this information.
* Collaborates with Legislative Committee to formulate, organize, and execute strategies for advocacy of ULA, libraries, and librarians.
* Assists Public Relations Committee to formulate, organize, and execute strategies for the promotion of ULA and its activities.
* Assists in preparing the annual budget for the Board's approval.
* Assists in reviewing and updating the strategic plan.
* Works with the Nominating Committee to manage election processes and tally votes.
* Updates and maintains manuals, bylaws, officer directories and similar documents in accordance with current ULA Bylaw, distributing them to all incoming officers and, where appropriate, all ULA members.
* Assists in additional projects under the direction of the Board of Directors.

Qualifications
* Demonstrated commitment to libraries and librarianship, and to advocacy on their behalf.
* Degree in library science, public relations, communications, political science, management, or related field.
* Evidence of experience in marketing, promotions, or advocacy.
* Evidence of experience in web design and maintenance.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative and collegial organization.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Compensation
The Executive Director is an independent contractor and is responsible for his or her own benefits, taxes, and other recordkeeping. The annual salary is $10,000, with an estimated time commitment of 0.15 full time equivalency.
