Message from the Presidents

Greetings ULA/MPLA Members,

Welcome to the web site for the 2008 joint conference of the Mountain Plains Library Association and the Utah Library Association.

Near the end of April 2008, hundreds of librarians, vendors, and library supporters from Utah and eleven other states will converge on one building in Salt Lake City. Why? We think the theme of the 2008 joint conference says it all: "Where Paths Meet: Connecting Libraries and Our Communities."

With a sparkling lineup of timely programs, engaging speakers, friendly exhibitors, and special events, including the 60th birthday bash for MPLA, this will be an exceptional conference. And then there is the location: the Salt Lake City Hilton is in the middle of downtown, near the acclaimed new Salt Lake City Public Library, and close to many appealing places to visit, shop, or dine. Your one frustration will be the usual one at an outstanding conference - too many good things to choose from during the time available. You may want to extend your stay for that reason.

So mark April 29 to May 2, 2008 (or longer) on your calendar. And keep watching this web site for the latest information on registering, making hotel reservations, sightseeing, and planning to have a wonderful and productive time. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Dorothy Horan, ULA President
Wayne Hanway, MPLA President
