REED RICHARDS

Reed Richards is a native of the Ogden area where he still resides with his wife, Martha, and their four children. Reed attended the University of Utah where he earned a Bachelors' degree in accounting, a Masters' degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate degree.

After working for several years for a national CPA firm in the Los Angeles area, Reed returned to Ogden where he practiced law with a small firm for a period of ten years. He was elected Weber County Attorney in 1986 and served in that capacity until moving to the Attorney General's Office as the Chief Deputy in 1993. Reed has been actively involved in numerous business and professional organizations. He has served for many years on the policy and training board for prosecuting attorneys and the Police Officer's Standards and Training Board (POST).

Reed has also been very active in serving the needs of crime victims. He developed a thriving victim assistance program in the Weber County Attorney's Office, he now serves as the Chairman of the Utah Council on Victims of Crime, on the governing board of the Ogden Children's Justice Center, and the Statewide Advisory Board for Children's Justice. For the past six years he has served on the National Board for Children's Advisory Centers, and has served as their President.

Reed has also been active in his attempts to improve the criminal justice system, working as a member of the Utah Sentencing Commission, as a member of the Substance Abuse and Anti-Violence Coordinating Council and as an adjunct professor at Weber State University and an instructor for the Utah State Police Academy.

On a personal note, Reed has enjoyed many years of service for the Boy Scouts of America and has coached numerous little league ball teams.



MARK SHURTLEFF

Salt Lake County Commissioner, Mark Shurtleff, is a native Utahn. He is currently a resident of Sandy where he lives with his wife, M'Liss and his five children. Mark has a double major from Brigham Young University in Political Science and International Relations. He obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1985 and studied Medical and Health Care Law at he San Diego School of Law.

After being in private practice for four years, Mark served as Assistant Attorney General of the State of Utah from 1993-1997. he then became Deputy County Attorney for Salt Lake County, 1997-1998 and is currently the Salt Lake County Commissioner.

Mark was appointed by the Governor on the Utah Crime Victims Reparations Board, was a founding member of the Legal Committee of the National Emergency Management Association, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Peace Officer Classification and is on the Bail Bond Recovery Agent License and Regulation Board.

He has been very involved in his community as a Boy Scout leader, Little League, basketball and soccer coach and an at-risk youth mentor. Peace Officer Standards and Training Instructor, Fred House Academy Instructor, and Comprehensive Emergency Management seminar presenter also number in Mark's involvements
