ULA/MPLA Joint Conference
|
Dear Prospective Exhibitor:
The Mountain Plains Library Association and the Utah library Association will jointly host their annual conferences Wednesday May 6 - Saturday, May 9, 1998, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. You are cordially invited to be among the vendors for this event which is expected to draw more than 550 attendees from the 11-state MPLA region. The size of the conference and the scope of attendees, combined with the special efforts which will be undertaken to promote attendance and activities in the exhibits area, makes this a unique marketing and selling opportunity.
MPLA and ULA are full-service, professional organizations serving academic, public, special, ad school libraries and trustees. The conference will provide a forum for librarians, media specialists and library trustees in the MPLA region to meet and discuss topics of vital concern in the provision of information and library services. A full slate of programs, entertainments and speakers, including Barbara Ford, President of the American Library Association, is being planned by a vigorous and dedicated conference committee.
The north ballroom of the Salt Palace offers extensive exhibits space (approximately 18,000 square feet), and will be adjacent to the main lobby and registration area on one side, and the south ballroom, which will be used for major meal functions on the other. The exhibitor fee is $425, which includes an 8' x 3' rectangular table, one sign, skirting, and two chairs. Additional tables may be reserved for $350. Exhibitors can arrange for electrical lines and data lines, for which an additional charge is made, by contacting Modern Display, the company which will handle exhibitor services. Information for contacting Modern Display is included on the attached exhibitor registration form.
This year’s exhibits will open for two days. Although subject to some change, the current plan for exhibits is as follows: Booths will be read for exhibitors to begin set up at 6:00 a.m., Thursday, May 7. Exhibits will open at 11:00 a.m. on May 7, with one-hour of non-contested time for conference attendees to visit the exhibit area Exhibits will remain open until 5:00 p.m. Exhibits will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, at which time the Vendor Continental Breakfast will begin in the exhibits area and run until 8:45 a.m. Exhibits close at 4:00 p.m. that evening, and the area must be vacated by 8:00 p.m. that evening.
