Goshen – School Library provides ebooks
Each student receives an individual log-in to access any “e-book” in the online library. Multiple students can log-on and read the same book at the same time, which means no more waiting for that popular book to be returned.
Summit County – Expands Bilingual Programs
he Summit County’s Library new Multicultural Services Librarian wants to hit the ground running when she begins her fulltime schedule in May. In particular she is planning to beef up the county library’s literacy programs for both children and adults.
Salt Lake County – Online Goes Dark for 48 hours
This rare disruption of library service is required to allow the system’s computer data center to be moved from Whitmore Library in Cottonwood Heights to its home in the new West Jordan Library, 1825 West 8030 South.
Logan – Poet May Swenson Honored
Poet May Swenson’s poem “Earth Your Dancing Place” has found a permanent home at the Logan Library.
Salt Lake City – Library Provides Homeless Services
In a new program introduced this month, the library will begin working with Salt Lake County Human Services, the Utah Department of Workforce Services and Salt Lake City police to direct patrons to social services including homeless shelters, mental health counseling or substance-abuse prevention programs.
Salt Lake City Library to filter Internet Access
The Salt Lake City Main Library and its five branches have long filtered Internet access to computers in its children’s sections. During a Thursday evening meeting of the library system’s board, members voted unanimously to extend those same filtering capabilities to its entire network of computers available for adult use.
Emery County Library Offers Online Services
The Emery County head librarians Carole Larsen and Roxanne Noyes presented an information slide show to the Emery County Commissioners. They are promoting the use of the library and connecting with your local library system through the internet. You can log in with your library card number, name and a password. The librarians are eager to get you going on this new adventure through the local library system.

Box Elder County – Idaho Residents struggle to continue service
Thirza Ottley has waited all month for the 30-foot trailer to rumble into her rural Cassia County town. As usual, it’s right on schedule.
On board the trailer are some of her favorite things in the world: books. About 6,000 of them.
“I arrange my appointments in town, doctors or whatever, around this,” the lifelong Elba resident said. “I do not miss it.”
Ottley is one of many die-hard patrons of Box Elder County’s mobile library, which travels over the Utah border into Elba, Almo, Bridge and Juniper every four weeks, and Malta every two weeks, to bring reading materials to rural Idahoans.

“A lot of families don’t have home computers,” Sanchez said. “It’s nice to be able to come down to the library where it’s so close in town and be able to get on the Internet.”
State Law Library – Self Help Law Centers Likely Coming to SL & Utah Counties
The self-help center has served the outlying court districts for the past several years, but they haven’t had the funds to serve residents of Salt Lake and Utah counties, meaning 60 percent of Utahns don’t have access to the service.
But a piece of legislation this session may change that.
Highland Library Joins Northern Utah Consortium
The Highland City Library is officially a member of the North Utah County Library Cooperative. After completing all the requirements to become an associate member, the Highland Library received approval to join NUCLC from the Highland City Council on Tuesday. The Highland Library joined the libraries in American Fork, Lehi, Pleasant Grove and Eagle Mountain; it is the smallest member library.
